Caldo takes its inspiration from northern Spain, especially the Basque region, where the whole community congregates at the local bar and the philosophy “eat when you drink, drink when you eat” prevails. The locals; businessmen, workers, youngsters, their parents and grandparents all feel comfortable in a place where they can rely on a warm welcome, great conversation, a tasty bite to eat and a drop of the best local wine.

Recently included in Tatler Magazine Restaurant Guide as one of the top six Spanish bars in town,  the wine list is short, Spanish and carefully sourced from small, family wineries. The drinks list also includes a range of chilled Sherries, Cava, a large range of cocktails and special gins, draught English and Galician lagers and prize winning English ales.

The tapas menu changes every few weeks and includes many classics; patatas bravas, paella, fried calamari, slow cooked pork with morcilla, fritters of baby prawns, mushroom croquetas as well as more irregular treats such as saute chicken livers in sherry sauce and anchovy croutons with smoked tomato sorbet.

If you’re looking for a taste of Spain mixed with the best of English; simple but special food, a lovingly made wine or the perfect cocktail, and old fashioned hospitality – Caldo is the place for you!

Bookings welcome for outside, the lounge, bar and dining area and we have a private party room available.
